In the name of God, Amen In the year of our Lord 1493 I Henry Fynche being of sound mind and good memory make my testament in this manner First I bequeath my soul to almighty God Blessed Mary and to all the saints, and my body to be buried in the chapel of St. Nicholas of Ikelesham. Item I bequeath to the top of the altar for tithes forgotten 6s 8d Item I bequeath to the repair of the poor road weaving between Clegge Cross and Ikelesham Street 40s Item I bequeath for the improvement of the chapel of St. Nicholas, and for the improvement or new construction of the altar of the said chapel to be made in the likeness of the high altar of the said church, 40s. Item I bequeath to five poor men who are staying and living in the parish in which I have farms and services, that is to say, to each of them 4d. Item I will and ordain that I should have one hundred masses celebrated after the month following my decease for my soul and for the souls of my friends Item I bequeath for the repair of the cope that I bequeath to the church of Ikelsham 40s Item I will that my executors pay all my debts as soon as they can conveniently. Item I bequeath to the top of the altar of Battle for tithes forgotten 6s 8d Item I bequeath to the top of the altar of Monfeld 6s 8d Item the genuine residue of all my goods not bequeathed above I give and bequeath to Alice my wife and Edward Belknapp, armiger, whom I appoint my executors of this my testament, that they themselves may order and arrange for the health of my soul, as they see fit to please God and assist my soul |
This is the last Wyll of me Henry Fynche Made the xviij day of January the yere of the Rigne of Kyng Henry the viith ixth First I Wyll that my feoffees shall suffer Ales my Wyfe to take the profites of all my Landys and tenementys Rentys and Sirvces as Wele wtin the feanchesse as wtout vnto the tyme that she have taken and perceyved of thissues and profytes therof cc marcs to be apployed to the mariage of my ij doughtouwrs that is to sey every of them c marcs so that they be maried by thadvyse of there moder executo~ and other of there next frends to be receyved yerely incontynent after my deceese And if it so happ~ that the oon~ of them dye or she be maried that than I will that the other have c li And the remanent to be disposed in goode werkes.
