In the Name of God Amen I Robert Alfounder Fellow of Emanuell College in Cambridge Batchelor of Divinity being in good health and Sound and disposing Mind and Memory praised be God do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament as followeth Imprimis I commend my Soul to God my Creator hoping for Salvation through his Mercy and the Merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and my Body I commit to the Earth to be interred at the discretion of my Executrixes after named and as to my Temporal estate I dispose therof as followeth first I give and bequeath to Emanuell College twenty pounds to be paid within one year after my decease out of my personal Estate if sufficient if not out of my real Estate Item I give and devise to my loving Sister Jane Alfounder Spinster and to my Neice Mary Hill Daughter of my Sister Mary Hill and to their respective Heirs and assigns all and Singular my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whetsoever situate and being in Great Bowden in the County of Leicester Item all and singular my Goods Cattle Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever not before disposed of after my Just Debts Paid and Funeral Expenses discharged I give and bequeath to my said two Sisters Mary Hill and Jane Alfounder whom I hereby nominate and appoint joint Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament revoking all other by me made In Witness wherof I the said Robert Alfounder have to this my last Will and Testament Set my hand and Seal the two and twentieth day of February Anno Dom~ One thousand Seven hundred twenty and one R. Whereas I Robert Alfounder Rector of North Lufnam in Rutland Batchelor of Divinity have made my last Will and Testament in Writing some years since and Whereas since the making therof I am intitled to the Revertion of one third part of a Messuage and four yard Lands and a Meadow called Dents Meadow in the Bishops Fee near Leicester and all other the Lands and Tenements there late the Estate of Josiah Billers Gent expectant on the deceased of Jane Billers his Widow and Whereas I shall in Michaelmas Term next together with Jane Tomson Widow and Elizabeth Coulton Widow who are intitled to the other two third parts of the said premisses levy a Fine thereof to Thomas Ludlam for the farther and better enabling us to dispose of our respective third parts of the said premisses as to us shall seem meet now my Mind and Will is and I hereby declare and agree that my third part of the said premisses shall be and Enure to the uses following and I hereby give and devise the same as hereafter mentioned To wit To my sister Jane Alfounder for and during the Term of her natural Life and from and after her decease Then to my Nephew Richard Hill his Heirs and assigns for ever and I desire this may be taken as a Codicil and part of my said last Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the Twelfth day of September one Thousand Seven hundred and thirty five R Alfounder. I Robert Alfounder Rector of North Luffenham in the County of Rutland Batchelor of Divinity do this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Forty five make and publish this my Codicil to my last Will and Testament in manner following that is to say I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Richard Hill all and Singular my Books of what kind or sort so ever the same be now Standing and being in or about my now dwelling House and Study or Elsewhere and Lastly it is my desire that this my present Codicil may be taken as part of my last Will and Testament to all Intents and Purposes In Witness whereof I the said Robert Alfounder have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and year first above written R Alfounder. Signed Sealed published and declared by the above named Robert Alfounder as a Codicil and Part of his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who attested the same at the Request and in the Presence of the said Robert Alfounder. Whereas in and by my last Will and Testament made some years ago I have given the Residue of my Personal Estate to my two sisters Mrs. Mary Hill and Mrs. Jane Alfounder equally to be divided between them and have appointed them joint Executrixes thereof and Whereas my dear Sister the said Mary Hill is lately did Now my Mind and Will is and I do hereby give and bequeath to my Nephew Mr. Richard Hill all my Estate and Interest of one Moiety or equal half part of the Residue of my personal Estate after and Subject to the Payment of a Moiety of my just Debts Funeral Charges and Legacies given by my said Will with his Aunt the said Jane Alfounder besides the Books which I have already given him or what Legacy I have by my said Will given to his Mother the said Mary Hill and I do hereby appoint the said Richard Hill joint Executor with my said Sister Jane Alfounder of my said Will and I do hereby order and direct that this may be deemed and taken as a Codicil or further Part of my said Will and be thereto annexed In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the Twenty fifth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty four R: Alfounder. I hereby order and direct that the Principal Money and Interest Secured by Mortgage to my Heire Mrs. Mary Hill Spinster on my Estate at Great Bowden in the County of Leicester shall be only chargeable theron and not to be paid by my Executors out of my Personal Estate or any Part thereof and I do desire this may be taken as a Codicil and further part of my Will as Witness my hand and Seal the day and year above written R Alfounder Signed Sealed published and declared by the said Robert Alfounder as a Codicil and further Part of his Will in the Presence of us two attested the same at his Request in his Presence and in the Presence of each other Grace Bagnall Johanna Elsam J Wythers.
This Will was proved at London (with four Codicills annexed) before the Right Honourable Sir George Lee Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted the twenty fifth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Fifty five by the Oaths of Jane Alfounder and Richard Hill the Executors named in the third Codicill to whom Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased having been first Sworn by Commission duly to administer.
