Appeared Personally Maria Jane Alefounder (Wife of John Alefounder Limner) of Bow Street in the Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden in the County of Middlesex and being duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelists to depose the Truth made Oath as follows, that she knew and was well acquainted with Sarah Alefounder late of the Parish of Saint Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex deceased who departed this Life in or about the Month of November last a Widow and as the Deponent believes Intestate without having made any Will leaving behind her George Alefounder and William Wakelin Alefounder her the said deceaseds natural and lawful and only Children and the sole Persons intitled in Distribution to the Personal Estate and Effects of her the said deceased That the said George Alefounder is now in his Minority, towit, of the Age of Nine Years and upwards, but under the Age of Twenty one Years And that the said William Wakelin Alefounder is now in his Infancy, towit, of the Age of three Years and upwards but under the Age of Seven Years and therefore respectively incapable of taking upon them the Administration of the Effects of the said deceased And she further deposed that the only next of Kin of the said George Alefounder and William Wakelin Alefounder is Ann Alefounder Widow their Grandmother and who is the Deponents Husbands Aunt and now resides at Colchester in the County of Essex That this Deponent having been applied to by Mary Plunkett Widow a Creditrix of the said deceased and who hath the care of the said William Wakelin Alefounder, to write to the said Ann Alefounder to know whether she would accept the Guardianship of the said George Alefounder and William Wakelin Alefounder for the Purpose of taking upon her Letters of Administration of the Goods of the said deceased for the use and benefit of the said George Alefounder and William Wakelin Alefounder, or to renounce their right to the said Administration that the same might be granted to the said Mary Plunkett for the use and benefit of the said Minor and Infant this Deponent on Monday the Seventeenth Instant accordingly wrote to the said Ann Alefounder at Colchester And that on the 23rd Instant she the Deponent received by the Post an Answer to the said Letter from and subscribed by the said Ann Alefounder (wherein among other Matters of a Private and Family Nature) she declared that " I must beg to be excused undertaking the Business you mention, and I think as you have the care of the Children, you are the Properest Person to Manage the Affairs " And this Deponent lastly saith that she herself hath the care of the said George Alefounder and is fully consenting on his behalf to the said Administration being granted to the said Mary Plunkett for the use of the said George Alefounder and William Wakelin Alefounder untill they or either of them shall attain the Age of Twenty one Years as aforementioned And that the only Property of the said deceased to be recovered by the said Administration is Twenty one Pounds Twelve shillings being Arrears of Pension due to the said deceased at the Time of her Death as the Widow of John Alefounder deceased whilst living a Surgeon in his Majestys Navy except some Wearing Apparel the Particulars or exact Value thereof this Deponent cannot setforth but has heard and believes the same will not amount in Value to the Sum of Forty Shillings

A Declaration instead of a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of Sarah Alefounder late of the Parish of Saint Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex Widow deceased which at any Time since her Death have come to the Hands Possession or Knowledge of Mary Plunkett Widow the Curatrix or Guardian lawfully assigned to George Alefounder a Minor and William Wakelin Alefounder an Infant the natural lawful & only Children of the said deceased made and given in by Virtue of the Corporal Oath of the said Mary Plunkett follows, towit,

This Declarant declares that she hath been informed and verily believes that the said deceased at the Time of her Death was the Widow of John Alefounder deceased whilst living a Surgeon in his Majestys Navy and as such intitled to the Sum of Twenty one Pounds twelve shillings of lawful Money of Great Britain for Arrears of Pension due to her.

Also this Declarant declares that the said deceased at the Time of her Death was possessed of some Wearing Apparel but the particulars or Value thereof she cannot setforth but believes the same will not amount in Value to the Sum of Forty shillings -

Lastly this Declarant declares that no Goods Chattels or Credits of or belonging to the Personal Estate of the said deceased hath at any Time since her Death come to the Hands Possession or Knowledge of this Declarant other than what are mentioned and setforth in the above written Declaration

The 28th Day of August 1787 The said Mary Plunkett was duly Sworn accord to the Truth of this affidavit Declaration
